About

Joanna is a Licensed Social Worker who completed her Master’s degree in Children and Families from Loyola University Chicago and her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University. Joanna has always been passionate about working with children/adolescents and new mothers during their transition into parenthood. 

Joanna has experience with children and adolescents who have depression, anxiety, social anxiety, behavioral issues, self-esteem, PTSD, ADHD, autism and other developmental disabilities. Joanna offers an inclusive space for all  individuals, including those who identify as LGBTQ+. 

Joanna is passionate in supporting and connecting with mother’s struggling through their journey into parenthood. As a former birth doula, Joanna has an understanding about birth and postpartum. She helps navigate pregnancy in terms of perinatal mental health, and provides support during the transitional stages into parenthood. She believes that a safe space is needed for all new mothers and parents.

Her approach to therapy is to always be transparent and open with clients. To encourage and challenge clients in new ways. Joanna uses various techniques including play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy, mindfulness, journaling  and communication skills.
